It was in August 2018 when we first met. We first met at Church launch where I was ministering though we didn’t get a chance to talk that night. After a few days we met again, this time at a Sunday service. After the service she walked up to me and greeted me. Her greeting sparked something in me. It was love at first sight though I didn’t speak it right away, I mean I couldn’t because we barely knew each other.
Fast forward to early 2019, I had moved to a new place which happened to be close to where she was staying. Well, here was the girl I was crushing on staying right close to me and I couldn’t wait any longer but tell her how she made me feel and that I liked and wanted to marry her. After sometime she came back to me with an answer that changed my life… A Yes!!!
The love, the joy, the fun we shared in our journey to marriage was enormous. I didn’t want to finish a day without seeing her and our relationship grew much and much stronger.
As beautiful as it was it wasn’t all that easy. Challenges and hardships came but God was on our side. We stood strong and our bond became unbreakable.
A day was set for the wedding, all the processes such as lobola were done. We all couldn’t wait for the big day. Everything was falling into place and others falling out of place. Relatives and friends had told us were coming. Others had already booked flights and accommodation. A day we were just dreaming about was now becoming a reality.
3rd October 2020, I woke up that morning wondering if it was true that it was indeed the day I was getting married. Well, I woke up and got prepared for the big day. I was excited but somehow nervous as well. I couldn’t wait to see my girl in a wedding dress. That beautiful girl I used to admire from a distance was now becoming my wife. The excitement was growing and glowing.
We arrived at Church that morning and I was amazed to see so many people waiting for us. Everyone looked happy and excited. Everything was beautiful. When I saw my fiancé who would soon become my wife enter the Church, it was as if I’m seeing her for the first time. She looked extra beautiful in that dress than usual.
It was a happy day for everyone. That day was only made possible by God. Everything went beyond our expectations. The music, the food, the dancing was all on a level we never expected. God blessed us beyond measure. We are now in our home and happily married to the love of my life Zukiswa as called by many. We are so grateful to God and to friends and family for making our day beautiful. We are now Mr and Mrs Gwedeza forever!
