Barely a week ago, a voting competition was organised by Mikozi group on their online Facebook page for people to vote for the most talented artist in the country. Mikozi group nominated and announced that the competitors are the hit singer for the Solomon song; Onesimus and Mapulani hit singer Dr. Patience Namadingo.
According to the votes, Mikozi group announced Onesimus as the winner of the poll, with 1, 342 votes, beating Dr. Namadingo who bagged 654 votes, representing 51% and 49%, respectively.
Many people were happy with the results, as Solomon continues to shake trending the country and the international scene.
After a day, Dr. Namadingo posted on his Facebook page; “imagine being very hated by most of your people, and being very loved by God. What success can I do in a jealousy infested place. Joseph became a Prime Minister of Egypt, not in his country. Time to go to Zambia permanently,” he posted.
He further indicated that the negativity is too much and it can kill his career if he is not careful.
This brought a breeding ground of comments on social media, as many people commented and accused him because of what he has said as the the decision to leave Malawi and stay in Zambia.
Some reminded him, saying Malawians who you labelled; ‘full of Jealousy’ are the same Malawians who have helped you to grow and become a well organised popular singer in your music career.
Meanwhile, a day after Dr. Namadingo wrote this on his page for losing the competition, there was also a post by Tay Grin, also known as the Nyau King, about being pasted on Times Square, a New York billboard, that also left people with questions whether it was real or it was just a mock up.
On the development, many have said that Tay Grin was just trying to catch the attention of people, as many do not believe it.
Now Dr. Namadingo and Tay Grin met in Zambia for a collaboration song. This has also brought many talks from people, and many feel it is just a stunt now since the song was released just a few days after the social media frenzy, and it is titled “Lalala.” The song has centered on the claimed hatred that Malawians have for the two artists; Namadingo and Grin, as in their song Namadingo is saying that people will come to know very late that he is the best “azavomeleza too late kuti mwana uja ndi dolo.”
The song is full of praising themselves as the best artists in Malawi.
I hope Dr. Namadingo and Tay Grin will sometime reflect on these words. Home is always the best. We hope to see you soon Dr. Namadingo to reclaim your matches from Tay Grin as you posted on social media that you have handed them to him.
