EASTERN REGION POLICE ENGAGES CHIEFS ON FARM-GATE ENFORCEMENT

Police in Eastern Region have urged Chiefs under Paramount Chief Kawinga to take a leading role in enforcing farm-gate regulations.

Speaking during farm-gate awareness meeting held on July 21, 2021 at Paramount Chief Kawinga’s Headquarters, Director for Community Policing , Deputy Commissioner of Police. Aubrey Nyirenda, said farmers encounter alot of challenges when it comes to sell their produce , hence there is need to protect them from being robbed by traders.

“We have summoned you chiefs because we know that through you, the message will be delivered to all people in various communities” Said Nyirenda.

Making the remarks , Eastern Regional Operation Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mrs Qitwayo Masina , said Police will not spare anyone defying on farm-gate regulations.

Speaking on behalf of the Paramount Chief Kawinga, Annie Gausi commended Eastern Region Police for coming up with the intiative and she promised to work hand in with Police by ensuring that all traders have a supporting documments when buying farm produce to farmers and that they will be reporting all traders who will be defying farm-gate regulations to Police.

The same meeting was conducted at Kachenga Village in Balaka district where it involved Traditional Leaders , Community Policing , Faith Leaders, and Businesa Committee members.
